Steam developer, publisher and franchise pages: setup and followers
30 Oct 2026 · 7 min read
Developers and publishers can have their own page on the Steam store, listing all their games, and a franchise can have one too. Players follow these pages to hear about your next game. This guide covers setup, linking games, the custom URL, franchises and what followers get, from Valve's Developer and Publisher Homepages and Franchise Pages docs, checked 30 Oct 2026.
Before you start
Setting up a developer or publisher page
One game can name several developers and publishers, each linked to the same or a different page, and several names can point to one page. You can only link to a page you control or linked before, so a different publisher may have to link the game to its own page.
Sources: Developer and Publisher Homepages, Franchise Pages. Checked 30 Oct 2026. Valve updates these pages; the Steamworks docs always win.
Custom URL and lists
Under Apps & Packages, Creator Homepage Custom URL Setup sets a short name, so the page is reachable at addresses such as /developer/valve, /dev/valve, /publisher/valve and /pub/valve on the Steam store. Valve counts the name as a "Company Mark" under the Steam Distribution Agreement: it must not misrepresent your company or use another company's name or trademark. If someone else's group is misusing your name, contact Steam support.
Lists group games on your page, long term (a franchise) or short term (the games in a promotion). Create one from the page's admin panel with a name, description and format.
New releases
Link each new game, demo, soundtrack or DLC to your page, best before its store page goes out. Once the store page is approved and set live as Coming Soon, the game appears on the linked pages; at release it appears as a new release and followers get an email. The Coming Soon step is in Steam Coming Soon page. If a game is missing, check the permission and re-run Creator Homepage Setup. A game transferred to another account drops off its old pages automatically.
Franchise pages
A franchise is two or more games in the same fictional universe, gameplay style or intellectual property: "Left 4 Dead" is one, "Valve Games" is not. Studios at different companies can share one franchise page by all being officers in its group, as with Warhammer.
Once set on each game, the franchise shows up in these places:
| Where | What appears |
|---|---|
| Button above purchase options | Leads to the franchise page, using the franchise page's header image. |
| "More From Franchise" section | Below the system requirements: the other games in the franchise. |
| Breadcrumbs | The franchise name at the top of the store page, linking to the franchise page. |
| Your homepage | A "Link your Homepages" section can list your franchises or studios. |
In Special Settings of the store page editor you can choose which developer, publisher or franchise is highlighted below each game's description, the sort order, and games to force to the front.
What followers get
A franchise follow works the same way, limited to that franchise. Wishlist emails are a separate system: see Steam wishlist notifications.
Where a broadcast fits
A homepage can show a live broadcast: in the homepage's Broadcast tab, set Allow Steam Broadcasts to appear on event and store page to on. It sits at the top and cannot be moved, and only one broadcast shows, the one with the highest viewership. The details are in livestreams on Steam sale pages and developer homepages. Loopcast keeps a store page broadcast running from an uploaded video, billed per minute on air. You can try it free for 7 days, no card needed.
FAQ
What does a Steam developer or publisher page need?
A Steam Community group with your company's name, where your account is owner or officer, an account with Edit App Marketing Data permission that is not limited, and your games linked to the group.
What do followers of my Steam developer page get?
An email when one of your games launches, enters Early Access or leaves it; your recent releases mixed into the front page and genre or tag hubs they browse; and a note on product pages that they follow you.
What counts as a franchise on Steam?
Two or more games in the same fictional universe, gameplay style or intellectual property. Valve's example: "Left 4 Dead" is a franchise; "Valve Games" is not.

Yes. Turn it on in the homepage's Broadcast settings. It sits at the top, and only one broadcast shows: the one with the highest viewership.
