What they are
A Store Broadcast is a livestream that shows on your store page. During events, a selection of broadcasts is even surfaced on the Steam store landing page, which is real, free visibility for your game.
How the video reaches Steam
Video has to reach Steam over RTMP, a live protocol. You cannot just upload a file like on YouTube; it has to be sent in real time by streaming software, encoded to a specific spec.
Why developers use them
