Steam broadcast not showing up? Common fixes

22 Jun 2026 · 4 min read

A broadcast that will not appear on your store page almost always comes down to a handful of causes. Work through these in order.

1. Broadcast Live is not enabled

Confirm the Broadcast Live permission is on for the exact App ID, and that your account has access. Without it, Steam will not accept a feed at all. See how to get your stream key.

2. The video does not match Steam’s spec

A wrong bitrate, keyframe interval or audio codec will get a feed rejected. Check it against the required spec.

3. The stream key is wrong or expired

A mistyped or regenerated key will not connect. Re-copy it from Steamworks and update it wherever you broadcast from.

4. It is live but you cannot see it

Store-page broadcasts can take a short while to appear, and visibility can differ by region and by event state. Give it a few minutes and check from a logged-in Steam client.

5. The stream keeps dropping

A self-run stream from a home PC drops when the machine sleeps or the connection hiccups. Running from a datacenter with automatic restart avoids this. Still stuck? Contact support.
